After the success of its inaugural year, the student-run, non-partisan Invest in Texas legislative campaign has launched the “Higher Ed at Home” initiative featuring University of Texas at Austin students visiting or writing their hometown state legislators to express why concerns of higher education students matter to their constituents and should be front and center in their minds, even if a university or college is not located in their district.
The Higher Ed at Home initiative focuses on key student issues, such as: providing adequate funding for the university, increased levels of financial aid for students, allowing a provision for students to the Voter ID bill, consider allowing the UT System student regent a vote, and providing competitive benefits to university employees.
