College of Communication CTBAC

The Communication Council’s Student Issues and Advisory Committee serves as the CTBAC for the College of Communication. The SIAC is the liaison between the students and faculty/staff of the college and works directly with the deans and department chairs to solve issues and make lasting change. It differs from a traditional CTBAC in that it routinely works directly with the Deans and Department Chairs of the College on not only budget issues but other concerns of the College as well. The SIAC strives to make an impact on the College by finding out what the students want through venues such as a college-wide survey and town halls. Members of the SIAC are also members of the Communication Council.

The SIAC sits 6-10 committee members and meets once every week during the school year. Members of the SIAC are selected by the vice president of the Communication Council based on an application process. Terms for members begin the first day of committee meetings and last one semester long. The chair and vice-chair of the SIAC have a term of one year. Through an application process, the Executive Team of the Communication Council selects the chair of the committee. The Communication Council’s Financial Director serves as an adviser to the SIAC. Each member of the SIAC has one vote.
