School of Architecture CTBAC

The standing Coordinating Committee within the School of Architecture’s existing governing structure has been adapted to include student members and serves as the CTBAC for the school. Students on the Coordinating Committee gather information and comment on major budgetary decisions made at the school level.

The Coordinating Committee meets the second Monday of each month during the fall and spring semesters.

Proposal for the School of Architecture CTBAC

Functions of the Coordinating Committee

- Discuss school-level budget priorities
- Recommend such tuition increases as are necessary to meet those priorities
- Consider the allocation of budget resources within the school necessary to achieve school-level decisions
- Solicit feedback from students, faculty and staff
- Work with other CTBACs to collect input from members of the university community about university-wide budgetary recommendations and changes

Membership

The Coordinating Committee, in addition to the dean and existing members, includes six student representatives – three undergraduate students and three graduate students. Student member selection is determined by the Undergraduate Architecture Student Council, the Graduate School of Architecture Representative Council, the dean and any other appropriate parties. A seat on the committee is reserved for both the UASC president and the School’s Student Government representative. Procedures for selection of faculty membership is determined by the dean and appropriate faculty leaders in the school. Each member, except the ex officio dean, shall have one vote.

Members are chosen at least one month before their terms begin.  Terms begin on the first day of the fall semester and run for one or two years.  Members serve for two years unless extenuating circumstances (study abroad, residency, etc.) prevent a full term being served. In such a case, the member serves for one year on the committee. The Student Government representative and the Council president serve a one-year term, beginning no later than January 1.  Terms of those serving two years are staggered so that each year the terms of half the committee members expire, thereby providing continuity of knowledge and experience.
